REGISTRATION PERIOD/LEAGUE CAPACITY

Registration will open on Tuesday morning, May 25, 2010, and will close on Tuesday night (11:59 PM), June 1st, 2010. It is a relatively short window of time, so be sure to mark your calendars and register without delay as spots will be granted on a first paid basis and players who do not register during that interval of time risk not being included on the initial draft list.

The registration form (which will be published on May 25th, 2010 on the website under Summer League/Online Registration) will remain up and active until (and even beyond) the June 1st deadline even if maximum capacity is reached beforehand. If maximum capacity is already reached by the time you register, you will be prompted that you are registering onto a waitlist, and you will not be asked to pay just yet. Waitlisted registrants will be contacted by the GMDA Board in order of registration time stamp if and when a spot opens.

Summer League 2010 will count either 12 or 16 teams. The decision on number of teams will be made by the GMDA Board at the closing of registration based on the number of registrants. Nevertheless, registration will be capped at 160 men and 64 women, based on a scenario of 16 teams X 14 players (10 men, 4 women.)

SCHEDULE/LOCATION(S)

Summer League 2010 will consist of 9 league games played every Tuesday evening from June 22nd, 2010 to August 17, 2010 inclusively. Games will be played at the Central School in Williston, and possibly at Calahan Park in Burlington as well, depending on the number of teams. Directions to these fields can be found on the website under Resources/Directions. A detailed schedule will be posted on the website before game 1 under Summer League/Schedule.

TEAM FORMATION

A draft system is used to keep teams balanced. Draft night is scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 8th, 2010. Only the captains are asked to be present to pick their team. Within a few days of draft night, the initial team rosters will be posted on the website under Summer League/Rosters and the captains will contact their team members.

SPOT SPLITTING

Please note that spot splitting is currently not allowed for anyone.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Please note that the GMDA Board has established a new attendance policy where team captains are required to report to the GMDA Board any and all players who have been "MIA" for two (2) weeks i.e. players with two (2) uninformed/unexcused absences. These players will systematically be removed from League and replaced by the next player in line on the waitlist, hence the importance of communication between team members and captains. Also, please note that the GMDA Board is looking to reduce team size this season to promote playing time and integration of new players, therefore attendance will be particularly important and captains are encouraged to pay close attention to commitment level when drafting team members.

PAIRING REQUESTS

If it was decided to go with a 16-team league, the use of two satellite fields would be necessary. In such a scenario, the GMDA Board would ensure that rideshare requests that are absolutely essential be accomodated but all other types of pairing requests will be handled at the discretion and luck of the captains in the draft.

If you're interested in captaining, please e-mail the GMDA Board by Tuesday May 25th with a short explanation of why you'd like to captain. Also, please let us know if you plan on captaining with someone else. Co-captaining is allowed as long as it's not same-gender pairs. Please read our full policy on co-captaining on our Summer League/Policies page, thank you.

We'll let you know who we've selected by Tuesday June 1st.

The draft will be on Tuesday June 8th.
