| Call for Captains | Qualities/Responsibilities | |
| Captains Coordinator | Rewards |
We need captains! One or two per team. 8 teams per session. Please get involved and give us a helping hand! You need not have a lot of experience or be highly skilled at Ultimate to be a great candidate for captaining. You also need not be a coach (but you are certainly free to take on that role as well.) Below is a list of responsibilities and qualities we’re looking for in captains, as well as a list of some of the rewards you can expect from being a captain. If you’re interested in captaining for Winter League 2009-2010, please contact the GMDA Board no later than October 30th, 2009. In that email, please tell us which session(s) you want to captain, and a little bit about why you want to captain. The Board will review all your responses, select, and announce captains by November 6, 2009. Please note that it's important if you wish to captain that you keep draft night(s) open in case you’re selected (November 9, 2009, for session 1, and February 8, 2010, for session 2.) And lastly, please note that we will favor people who can captain both sessions.
- Have excellent attendance at league games
- Attend/pick your team at draft night(s)
- Check the website, the calendar, and your email for updates
- Relay all appropriate information to the team members
- Make sure your team is ready to play at the designated time/field
- Encourage your team to participate in all games
- Make sure you and your team are having fun
- Report any issues (attendance issues, etc.) to the GMDA Board
- Be sure you and your team are aware of all rules and policies
- Report (or appoint a team member(s) to report) scores to the GMDA Board promptly after each game
- Appoint a team member(s) to score/timekeep each game
- Collect signed Fieldhouse waiver forms from all team members
The Captains Coordinator provides the captains with all the initial information and support they need, and is the point person for subsequent questions/concerns/problems. The Captains Coordinator also manages the waitlist; captains who need to permanently replace a player due to injury or attrition should contact the Captains Coordinator without delay so a waitlisted registrant can be assigned. The Captains Coordinator for Winter League 2009-2010 is GMDA Board Member Joe Wager.
- You get to pick your team
- You get to pick a team name and theme (optional)

- You will not be asked to collect money from anyone
