Winter League Captaining FAQ
1. How many captains are you looking for?
8 captains per session, i.e. 1 captain per team.
2. How and when can I apply?
If you're interested in captaining a Winter League team, please indicate your interest on your registration form.
3. Can I have a co-captain?
You may not apply to captain a team as a pair, but selected captains may choose someone from their team roster to co-captain. If you've been selected to captain a team and there is someone specific you would like to co-captain with, you'll have to succeed in drafting him or her. You should both make the request at the time of registration; there is a section on the registration form that allows you to indicate this type of pairing request.
4. How much of a discount do captains get?
Captains going solo get $25 off/session. Co-captains each get $12.50/session.
Captains pay the full amount when registering. The GMDA Board will reimburse you after afterward.
5. Can I just captain one session or do I have to captain both?
You can apply to captain for just one session if you don't wish to be a captain for both.
6. What responsibilities come with captaining a team?
We expect captains to...
- Attend draft night and pick their team (or appoint a representative to do so on their behalf)
- Have excellent attendance at league games
- Email all appropriate information to team, including game rules and policies (especially attendance policy)
- Make sure their team is ready to play at the designated field/time
- Make sure their team, and particularly new players, are learning and having fun
- Report any issues to the GMDA Board, such attendance issues, injuries, and player losses
- Report scores promptly after each game
